Basic Competence:

3.3. Mengidentifikasi fungsi social, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan teks interaksi transaksional lisan dan tulis yang melibatkan tindakan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait nama hari, bulan nama waktu dalam hari, waktu dalam bentuk angka, tanggal dan tahun sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya. (perhatikan kosakata terkait angka cardinal dan ordinal).

I always wake up at five o’clock in the morning. After cleaning my room, I take a bath for fifteen minutes. I always have breakfast at six o’clock with my parents. I leave for school at 6.30. I go to school by bicycle for the school is not far from my house. I study the lessons at school start at 7.00 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. after coming home, I have lunch right away at one o’clock. I usually take a nap at 2-3.30 p.m. I join

STRUCTURE 

Article a, an, and the

The = digunakan untuk menyatakan kata benda / bagian benda yang spesifik oleh karena itu “the” disebut definite article.

A/an = digunakan untuk menyatakan kata benda yang tidak spesifik oleh karena itu “a/an” disebut indefinite article.

A.  Indefinite article

a/an hanya bisa digunakan untuk menyatakan benda yang berjumlah tunggal/ singular noun.

A = digunakan untuk kata benda tunggal yang diawali dengan huruf konsonan. (huruf konsonan adalah selain huruf vocal a, e, i, o) contoh: a boy, a car, a fox, a zoo, a dog, a chicken, a giraffe

An = digunakan untuk kata benda tunggal yang diawali dengan huruf vocal. (huruf vocal adalah huruf a, I,e, o) contoh: an apple, an egg, an elephant, an orphan, an idiot. 

B.  Definite article

“The” dapat digunakan untuk benda tunggal dan jamak yang benda tersebut telah diketahui oleh pembicara dan pendengar/ penulis dan pembacanya.

Penggunaan the:

a.    “the” digunakan sebelum nama sungai, laut, dan Samudra contoh: the nile, the pacific.

b.    “the” digunakan sebelum menunjukkan tempat/titik yang ada pada peta contoh: the equator, the north pole.

c.    “the” digunakan sebelum area geografis, contoh: the middle east, the west

d.    “the” digunakan sebelum nama hutan, gurun, teluk, dan semenanjung/jazirah, contoh: the sahara, the Persian gulf, the black forest, the Iberian peninsula.

Larangan menggunakan “the”:

a.    “the” tidak boleh digunakan untuk nama kota, contoh: Italy, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia.

b.    “the” tidak boleh digunakan untuk nama kota/negara, contoh: Seoul, Manitoba, Miami.

c.    “the” tidak boleh digunakan untuk nama jalan, contoh: Diponegoro street, Pranoto street.

d.    “the” todak boleh digunakan untuk nama danau, contoh: lake Toba, lake Titicaca.

e.    “the” tidak boleh digunakan untuk nama gunung, contoh: mount Everest, mount Fuji, mount Merapi.

f.     “the” tidak boleh digunakan untuk nama benua, contoh: Asia, Europe.

g.    “the” tidak boleh digunakan untuk nama pulau, contoh: Borneo island, Java island, Sumatra island.

Gunakan “the” sebelum::

a.    Nama sungai, laut dan Samudra contoh: the Nile, the Pacific.

b.    Area geografik: contoh: the west, the middle east

c.    Gunung, hutan, teluk, dan semenanjung: contoh: the sahara, the Persian gulf, the black forest, the Iberian peninsula.

d.    Arah di peta/globe: contoh: the equator, the north pole.

Next to my bed, there are a small table and a small lamp. There is also a cupboard for me to keep my clothes. There are a desk and a chair for me to study. I have two bookshelves in my room. I keep all of my books in the bookshelves. I love my bedroom.
